About Jim Corbett National Park

Jim Corbett National Park is one of the oldest and most famous national parks in India. Located in the state of Uttarakhand, the park was established in 1936 and was originally known as Hailey National Park. Later, it was renamed in honor of the famous hunter-turned-conservationist Jim Corbett, who played an important role in protecting wildlife in the region. Spread over an area of more than 500 square kilometers, the park is known for its rich biodiversity, dense forests, grasslands, and river systems. The Ramganga River flows through the park, providing water and supporting a wide variety of plants and animals. Jim Corbett National Park is also a major part of Project Tiger, which was launched in 1973 to protect the endangered Bengal tiger. Because of its natural beauty and wildlife diversity, the park attracts thousands of tourists, wildlife photographers, and nature lovers every year.

The park is home to a wide range of wildlife species, making it an important center for biodiversity conservation in India. The most famous animal found here is the Bengal Tiger, which is the main attraction for visitors. Apart from tigers, the park also shelters elephants, leopards, deer, wild boars, and several species of reptiles. More than 600 species of birds have been recorded in the area, making it a paradise for bird watchers. The thick sal forests, open grasslands, and riverbanks create a perfect habitat for many animals and birds. Tourists can explore the park through jeep safaris and guided tours that allow them to observe wildlife in their natural surroundings. Jim Corbett National Park not only promotes tourism but also plays a crucial role in wildlife protection and environmental awareness. Its conservation efforts help maintain ecological balance and ensure that future generations can experience the beauty and richness of India’s natural heritage.
